Giv-Now was founded in 2017 by Kaitlin Dunning.

The idea for Giv-Now was born out of the frustration of wanting to volunteer, but not knowing where to start. Young professionals in metropolitan areas are the demographic most interested in volunteering, but they also have the busiest schedules. In order for non-profits to recruit volunteers, they have to make the process as quick and easy as possible.

Kaitlin's background in the recruitment industry allowed her to see a direct parallel between recruiting for volunteers and recruiting candidates for paid positions. Employers are now investing much more time and money to recruit the top talent, and this is for paying jobs! Charities will have to try even harder to recruit folks to work for free.

One of the main roadblocks to volunteering is not having the time to attend an orientation or to complete the necessary on-site training. By converting traditional volunteer training into video, text, and audio content on the app, volunteers can complete their training on the go and at their own pace.

Once Kaitlin decided she wanted to turn this idea into a reality, she spoke to a few extremely smart and talented people and entered a super cool competition, and the rest is history...

More about the founder...

Kaitlin was born and raised in sunny Tampa, Florida. After obtaining her B.S. in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida, she relocated to London where she lived and worked for 5 years while earning her M.A. in Transnational Media & Globalization from City University London. After London, Kaitlin hopped across the pond to NYC where she founded Backpacks to Briefcases, providing career coaching content and services to recent college grads. Kaitlin most recently traded the Big Apple for cherry blossoms and now resides in Washington, D.C.

Kaitlin has mastered the art of being a business chameleon after thriving in marketing leadership positions across a variety of industries, including hospitality, non-for-profit, technology, advertising and recruitment. She has had the honor of working with global brands like Hyatt Hotels and Disney, amazing charities like Young Rewired State, as well as disruptive technology startups like Romio.

Today, Kaitlin is a marketing consultant, career coach and digital illustrator. Her favorite pastimes are playing with rescue dogs, going to the beach, eating macaroni and cheese and cookie dough (not necessarily as part of separate meals), and sketching on her design tablet. She is passionate about people (including the four-legged furry variety) and digital design, firmly believing that when you combine art and technology you can truly create magic.
